Athens, the historic heart of Greece, is a well-connected and easily accessible destination for travelers from around the world. The city is served by Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos), with direct flights from major cities in USA, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond.
From the airport, you can reach the Athenian Riviera in just 35-45 minutes by car, taxi, express bus, or metro. There are also numerous car rental companies available.
Travel & ETIAS Update: The ETIAS requirement for travel to Europe has now been postponed until 2026. If you previously saw information about this on our website, please note that no action is required at this time.

Our wedding venue and all accommodation recommendations are located on the Athenian Riviera, along the south coast of Athens. The city center, with its historic landmarks, is just 35 minutes away. When visiting the city center from the south coast, we recommend taking a taxi or the metro, as parking in the city center can be difficult.
Currency: Greece uses the Euro (€). While credit cards are widely accepted, it’s always handy to carry some cash for smaller establishments and local markets.
Weather: Summers in Athens can be quite hot, with daytime temperatures in mid-July reaching as high as 95-100°F. We recommend wearing hats, applying sunscreen, and staying hydrated with plenty of water.
Safety: Athens is generally safe, but like any major city, it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings and watch out for pickpockets, especially in crowded areas.
Language: Many Greeks speak English, but learning a few basic Greek phrases can enhance your experience and is appreciated by locals. Try “Kalimera” (Good morning), “Kalispera” (Good evening), and “Efharisto” (Thank you).
Getting Around: For taxis, you can easily use the FREENOW and UBER apps, for a quick and convenient way to get around the city. The metro system is also convenient and efficient for navigating Athens.
